When I was a student at Sloan (SM'95) and later teaching at Sloan, some of my most powerful experiences came from being on the road with small teams. I went with teams for a week plus to Mexico, Argentina/Chile, and Singapore, and took a team of my students to Japan for several weeks. Recently, I've had teams of international students from the Russian Skolkovo MBA program work at Cambridge Innovation Center for a couple of months. I think these are powerful "bring people together to focus on something intense" experiences that should be replicated where possible.
