Brainstorm question - What costs does MIT guarantee and what do we cut when faced with hard choices?

Costs to be maintained/increased:

Renewal of lab space
Development of open student space
Digital subscriptions for books and subscriptions
Increased IT support and infrastructure
Need-blind admissions
Financial support for students to travel and engage the world
Salaries for top faculty

Potential areas for reduced funding:

Lecture space
Books and magazine subscriptions in libraries
Hard copies of course materials
Dorm room space
Streamline administrative functions and remove some element of choice to make systems more efficient
