A lot of the benefit of an MIT education comes from interaction with other students and the faculty. I can't imagine that online classes can duplicate that.

Real Classes
College is about learning and about socialization. While there is no question that on line learning is an important aspect of education, for the 18-22 year old, there is a need for independence and interaction. This might be even more critical in the population of students at MIT who perhaps have been isolated from others with similar interests and capabilities.
